Map Tools

Zoom In
The Zoom In tool allows you to magnify an area on the map. To zoom in, select zoom in from the tool bar, move the cursor to a corner of the map you want to magnify. Click and hold down the left mouse button and drag a box around the area to be zoomed to. When you are satisfied with the location of the box, release the left mouse button. You may also use this tool to center and zoom to an area of interest by just single-clicking on the map.

Zoom Out
The Zoom Out tool allows you to display a larger portion of the map. To zoom out, select zoom out from the tool bar, move the cursor over the point of interest, and click once with the left mouse button. You may also use this tool to click and drag a box to zoom-out to an area twice the size of your box.

Full Extent
The Full Extent tool allows you to zoom out to the entire viewing area. Select Full Extent from the tool bar to reset the map viewing area.

Previous View
The Previous View tool allows you to go back to the previous map view. Select Previous View from the tool bar to go back to the previous map view.

Pan
The Pan tool allows you to move the map view in any direction. To pan, select pan from the tool bar, then click and drag on the map with the left mouse button. Release the mouse button to redraw the map at the new position.

Identify Parcel
The Identify Parcel tool allows you to retrieve parcel data about a feature on the map. Select Identify from the tool bar then just click on any parcel. The corresponding parcel data will be displayed on the right side of the screen. Also, you can not print a map with parcel data after using the Identify tool you must use the SELECT tool or the Search tool. The Print Map & Report button can only be accessed after a selection is made.

Measure
The Measure tool allows you to measure distances on the map. Select Measure from the tool bar to measure the length of a map feature. Click on one corner of a feature, then move your mouse to another corner of the feature. You should notice the segment length changes as you move your mouse around on the map. When you click on the second corner of your feature the total length will now have the value that the segment length had before you clicked, and the segment length starts at zero again. Each time you click, the segment length is cleared and the total length is updated with the addition of the two lengths. This tool requires patience, you must wait after each click for the map to process.

Buffer
The Buffer tool allows you to Buffer selected features in the Active Layer based on information you provide. For example, you could select a parcel, then click the adjoining owners button from the bottom of the table. Next, select parcels as the layer, enter a buffer distance, select parcel data to be displayed then click search. A buffer of the selected parcel at the desired distance, and a list of adjoining owners will be displayed.

Select Parcel
The Select Parcel tool allows you to select a parcel by clicking on it. Click on the Select Parcel tool, then click on any parcel. The map will redraw with your selection highlighted and the parcel information displayed on the right side of the screen.

Clear
The Clear tool will erase all markings and highlighted features on the map. To clear the map view, Select Clear from the tool bar.

Print Map
The Print Map button allows you to print a map with a title and legend only and should be printed with Landscape Orientation. If your map prints on multiple pages change your Margin setting under the File menu. Select Page Setup then change margin setting to Left 0.25, Right 0.25, Top 0.25, Bottom 0.25, Header: Blank, Footer: Blank, this will produce a one page map.

Print Map & Report
The Print Map & Report tool allows you to print a map with the assessor information and should be printed with Portrait Orientation. If your map prints on multiple pages change your Margin setting under the File menu. Select Page Setup then change margin setting to Left 0.25, Right 0.25, Top 0.25, Bottom 0.25, Header: Blank, Footer: Blank, this will produce a one page map.
